– Diary of a Photographer –
One of the reasons for starting this little series of short brain farts which you know as Diary of a Photographer, was for me to write more frequently. It forces me to look at what’s happening around me in a more critical way rather than allowing the world to go by which is what I and a lot of other people commonly do. The end goal is to create bits of content that you, my readers might find interesting.
The key word there is CREATE. One of the biggest issues facing creatives is trying to come up with fresh new content. This is a hurdle no matter what profession you’re in: writing, the arts, music, comedy etc.
I wrote about one way to stay creative on the blog a while back: Creative Thinking – Where do you get your Inspiration From?
Recently I read this article on 99U on how cartoonists keep coming up with ideas to pitch to editors.
In it Bob Mankoff, a cartoonist, describes the cartoon idea generation process as “idea sex.” “Ideas breed ideas,” he says. “The classic technique is by putting things together that don’t go together,”
I guess this could be summed up as a massive brain dump on paper of unrelated things and then playing around with the ideas until a connection is made.
So tell me have you ever done this?
Until next time.
Take care
Warren
I’ve read somewhere that it is good therapy to write everyday. Separate to the main blog on Volare Photography, Diary Of A Photographer is a way for me to express thoughts that clutter my head but maybe inspire or provoke thoughts in yours.
