Baby Jacob | Melbourne Newborn Photographer

Arriving 8 weeks early, the mischievous grin on little baby Jacob’s face says it all, “Look out world, here I am!” Generally as a newborn photographer these super cute posed images are done within two weeks of birth but in the case of Jacob we waited until he reached his expected due date. It didn’t really matter as he was fighting fit and settling in beautifully into this world. How can you tell? Well just have a look at those healthy plump cheeks!

Congratulations to the proud first time parents, Louis and Brooke, who have gone through a tough journey just to get little Jacob home.

Please enjoy baby Jacobs images shown below.

Also the following is just a small brain dump of what I believe are some of the key points expecting parents need to know when booking a photo session with a newborn photographer.

As a newborn photographer I always try and educate my prospective clients about the importance of having your newborn photography session within the first two weeks of bubs birth. During that time all they want to do is sleep and are a lot more amenable to being placed into intricate poses.

For this to happen expecting parents should really have decided on their newborn photographer and booked their session well before their baby is born. After birth you are just too overwhelmed and not to mention too tired to make such important decisions.

At our studios we ask parents what style of newborn photography they would like. Not everyone likes the cuddled up poses on blankets or with props like beanies, flowers and baskets. Some couples want simple but elegant images of their baby asleep or in their arms.

If you are after intricate posing with props then any newborn photographer will tell you to allow for a session to last for at least 3 to 4 hours. Of course not all of this time is taken up with photography. There are feeding breaks, toilet clean up breaks and time needed for newborn settling.

It goes without saying that both parents should be present. I always insist that mum and dad get involved and have their portraits taken with the star of the show. If you don’t then trust me you will regret it in the future. Not only that but think of your baby when they are an adult. Imagine how powerful the meaning behind those portraits would be to them.  Are there other siblings? I believe that some of the most endearing photographs are the ones of older siblings posed with their new baby brother or sister.

Like I said earlier these are only some of the important things expecting parents should know and/or ask their newborn photographer. I do have plans on writing a longer more thorough article on the topic, so stay tuned.

If you have any questions that you might like answered then please hit me up in the comments below or why not call me directly at the studio on 9570 6191 or via email.

Take care.
