Grant: Is wedding on the board? Whoa top answer.

When it comes to hiring a photographer most people think that the only time they really need one is when they are getting married. It is such an important day for the couple that they want it documented and they want it done right. In fact choosing a wedding photographer is high up on the priority list once the venue has been finalised.

For us portrait photographers there is very little urgency for families to hire us. There is no pressing deadline like an upcoming wedding and anyway mums and dads take dozens of photos of their kids each and every day. Now these photos may not be the best quality. They may be blurry, too dark or too light or even out of focus but they should be OK, right?

Well maybe. But let me ask you would you personally photograph a family members wedding with an iphone? No you wouldn’t because you realise the significance of the occasion.

So why would you value your own family any less?

I mentioned urgency before and how families have no pressing reason to hire a photographer to get professional family photos done. However, if you think about it, life is full of milestones. In a blink of an eye these moments are gone, kids grow up and family dynamics change.

When Should You Consider to Hire a Photographer?

So here is a list to remind you of those milestone: stages in your family’s life where capturing those memories with a phone just won’t cut it. These are the times where the investment to a hire a photographer pays off. They can create beautiful lifelong memories for you. Not only images but personalised printed wall and album products that become priceless heirlooms.
