Ten Years Of Missing Photos

This is What Happens When You Don’t Print Your Family Photographs

When was the last time you printed any family photographs? Unless you’ve just had some sort of event like a wedding or Christening, I’m willing to bet that it would have been a while. Am I right?

OK another question for you? Assuming you haven’t printed any family photographs for a while, how long would it take you to find all of them stored on multiple phones, tablets, hard drives and computers and then sort them into good and bad ones, put them into some coherent order and then print them out?

ANSWER: A LOOONG TIME
Printing your family photographs
I recently posted a Facebook Live video talking about a birthday party I went to where the birthday girl had nearly ten years of missing photographs. That’s ten years of wonderful memories lost and not relived because the images were probably stored on some forgotten computer somewhere.

Could this scenario happen to one of your own children? How sad would it be if it did?

I hope you will be able to take something away from this video and not fall into the same trap.

You can watch the video below or if you prefer to read the transcript it is underneath the video.

Hi everyone, Warren here from Volare Photography.

I would like to recount a short story to you that highlights one of the biggest concerns about digital photography.

Parents this ones for you and I would like for you to tell me if this story is playing out for you now or can you see it happening to you in the future.

A few months ago I was at an 18th birthday party – feeling very old among all the young people there.

The birthday girl’s parents had created a huge photo wall – you know the ones where you put up a lot of photos up of growing up and chuck in some embarrassing ones as well.

But there was something unusual about this photo wall.

There were a lot of photos of her as a baby, a toddler and as a small child BUT at the age of about 7 or 8 the amount of images started to reduce.

Then there was this huge gap between when she was about 8yo and her being a teenager. It was like she never existed.

WHAT HAPPENED DURING THOSE YEARS?

I could only conclude that at some point her parents had bought a digital camera and all of these “missing” photos were now on a computer somewhere.

Just imagine that’s 10 years of “missing” photos and wonderful memories that she and her family missed out on because being on a computer they were probably never looked at.

Seeing everyone smiling and enjoying her printed baby photos, I thought to myself “what a waste that they couldnt see the rest of her life’s story”

Tongue in cheeck – BUT I guess it would’ve been to hard to pull out the laptop and sort through all the photos on all the various hard drives and print them out.

The lesson to be had here is to start printing your family photographs.

I have a slogan that we use for Volare Photography and that is “we create portraits that you want to display and not just store on your phone”. This is because I know the importance of printing out your family photographs.

If you would like to chat to me more about a portrait session for your family, just shoot me an email, message me on Facebook or call me at the studio. I’d love to chat.

Until next week – Take care.

Warren
