Backup Your Family Photos To Save Your Heart From Breaking
When was the last time you backed up your photos and videos on your phone? It is probably a question that you may have never even considered or if you did you just put the thought on hold for another time.
Now you’ve probably heard this particular scenario being discussed before or maybe you’ve been asked the question at some point and that is if your house was burning down in the middle of the night, once you knew your family was safe, what’s the first thing you would try to do? Now most people answer that they would try and save their personal belongings. With photos being the number one priority on their list of things to save.
Well this hypothetical question goes back many years when photographs were taken on film cameras. Families would print their photos and store them in photo albums. If they were lost or destroyed, like in a fire, the only chance of reprinting them would be if you had the film negatives.
I know, pretty catastrophic and heart breaking right? Imagine if you lost your precious photographic memories.
You would think that in the current era of digital technology this problem would be easily avoided. However I believe that these days the chance of loosing your precious family memories is SOOOO much higher.
Why? Because are lives are recorded and stored on our phones.
I think you can see where I’m going with this!
So let me ask you again when was the last time you backed up the photos and videos in your phone?
You Don’t Know What You’ve Got Until It’s Gone
Last week Xuan, my partner, thought she had lost her phone. For 24 hrs we couldn’t find it, we looked everywhere. At first it was so annoying – how were we to communicate with each other in the short term, organise drop off and pick up times for Aria our daughter. How was she to recapture all the contact phone numbers that she needed.
Annoyance soon turned into regret after we both realised that those issues were so minor compared to not having the family photos and videos she had taken. The worst bit was that she couldn’t remember when the last time she backed them all up. Was it a month ago? 3 months? 6 or had she never backed it up?!!!
Thankfully we eventually found it. Phew! Crisis averted.
We rely on our phones so much, but they are so easily lost, stolen, damaged or they just simply die on us and the chance of those things happening and losing our photos is so much higher than your house ever catching on fire and burning down.
So promise me something. After reading this, set aside some time within the next 24hrs to back up or make copies of your images and videos in your phone and your partners phone.
There are many ways to do this but if you’re not sure I wrote an article on the topic. You can read it here Keeping Your Family Photos Safe Through Photo Backups.

Hopefully this article is a timely reminder for you to take action.
