How cute is this guy? Indy is a 2 year old Beaglier which means that he is crossed with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. His owners, Nicola and David, love him to bits which is evident in their story below. Indy’s beaglier photos look amazing when photographed on a dark moody background. Nicola even made the comment that it almost looked like an art painting. I definitely agree.
She also mentioned how Indy loves to sleep in their bed every night. I suggested that we should do some fun photos of the three them in bed which she was very keen to try. This meant bringing a large inflatable bed into the studio. It was all worth it of course as the three of them had such a good time rolling under the covers. It was hilarious photographing it and the images reflect how much fun we all had.
Beaglier Photos
This was the first time I ever captured photos of a Beaglier. They really do have beautiful temperaments and would make great family pets.
I asked David to tell me more about Indy and the relationship the three of them share.
How old was he when you got him?
We got him when he was 8 weeks old.
How did you come up with his name?
Because of the story below, I left naming rights in Nicola’s hands. She called him Indy because we love the Indiana Jones movies, and he was named after their dog, Indy.
Any specific circumstances on how/why you got him?
We had decided years ago to maybe look at getting a dog. We looked at heaps of breeds and were having trouble deciding until we googled ‘cute puppies’ and saw Beagliers, and that’s what we wanted. So we spoke to a pet shop and they said they would let us know if they ever came in, but it might be a while because they were a rarer breed. So a few months later, our work situation changed and we agreed that there was no way we could look after a dog. Meanwhile about 4 months after this, out of the blue, the pet shop rings me and says that they have Beagliers and was I still interested. I told them ‘No’, but then I uttered those fateful word ‘but I’ll come down and have a look’. There were 5 of cutest dogs there and straight away Indy stood out for some reason. So I bought him, took him home, and boy, was Niki angry!!! Furious!! But after a couple of months she agreed it was the best decision I ever made.
What is his character like?
He is such a happy, loving dog. He’s very spoilt, and gets very jealous if we pat other dogs!
Funniest thing he has ever done?
I used to drive trucks interstate, and would take Indy with me, even as a puppy. When he was still toilet training I saw him squatting over the mattress in the truck about to have a poo. So I yelled ‘Nooooooooooo!!” and grabbed him to take him out of the truck. I should have left him to do the poo and then I would have only had a nice little pile to clean up. Instead I had a line of poo that stretched from the mattress, across the floor, over the console, through the loose change, over the gear stick, seat, and steering wheel! Oh the smell!!!! But I couldn’t stop laughing!!
When does he make you smile/laugh?
Always! That’s one of the best things about having a dog. It always brings a smile to my face.
When does he make you angry?
When he chews our clothes or shoes, especially one’s we’ve just bought!! Actually, when he licks his nuts its really annoying too because it sound like an old man who’s discovered he can……. (Edited on the grounds that it is too funny)….. Soooooo annoying!!!!
Favorite thing you like doing with him?
Definitely snuggles in bed! Indy has always slept with us, under the sheets and all! He tends to snuggle up to one of us during the night, with his head on the pillow. Niki and I always brag to the other about who he cuddled up with! Love it!!
