This is a follow-up article to “Why I Said No To A Family Photography Booking”
In that article, I explained the importance of personalising your family photography session after I received an enquiry from a gentleman who wanted some very generic family photos.
Go ahead and have a read if you want the background.
It talks about what we do at the studio to personalise your family photography session and how we use what we learn to create photographs of your family that you will connect with more and therefore will have more meaning to you.
Right now I want to talk about why this is so important.
The Psychology Behind Your Favourite Photographs
Well, the obvious answer is that if you like the images and they mean more to you then you will naturally love them and they will remain treasured family possessions.
However, there is another reason, a psychological one, something more powerful and deeper that connects you to those images on a more emotional level.
First, let me ask you, do you have a family photo or one of your kids that you absolutely love? Maybe you may have taken it yourself.
It might be on your phone right now. Hopefully, you have printed it out and placed it somewhere prominent so you can see it every day.
Think about that photo. What do you love the most about it?
Is it the best photo in terms of quality? Is it blurry or too dark? Maybe, but you love it anyway, right?
Why that image? I’m sure you have other images of that person or persons. It is very likely you have a strong connection to it, which causes a whole lot of other emotions to pour out of you that other photographs do not!
There might be a story behind the image that takes you back to another place or time where you remember what things were like back then. Was it something special about the moment the photograph was taken? The circumstances leading up to the photo being taken? Maybe where it was taken? Was that particular day memorable for some reason? Or is it the expressions caught at the perfect time?
Whatever it may be, that image brings out stronger and deeper emotions in you than any other.
Photographing Those Perfect Moments
As you are probably well aware it is hard to replicate those perfect moments.
My job as a photographer is to tailor your family photography session to suit your family so that the images we create for you will definitely have more meaning than any generic cookie-cutter approach could ever have.
We do this by asking a lot of questions about your family even before a single photograph is taken. I guarantee that the resulting photographs will be treasured family possessions for generations to come because they have true meaning to you and your family.
When you look back on them in the years that follow they will transport you back to a time in your life that you will remember fondly and with a glowing heart.
If you would like to discuss the possibilities of a family photography session with us give me a call on 9570 6191 or use this contact page.
Until next time.
Take care
