Couples Photography – Capturing Amazing Connections

Couples Photography

I would like to introduce you to a photography technique that is called Beloved Couples Photography. I have only done a few of these sessions to date but will be doing a lot more of them in the future because as you can see by the images in this post the results can be amazing. I would like to thank my gorgeous couple Catherine and Christian for showing so much trust in me and for allowing me to explore this unique photography experience with them. Incorporating Reconnection into a Couples Photography Session

Participants at the end of a Beloved session have been known to say that the experience has allowed them to fall in love again. To reconnect by rekindling old memories and associations they once had and remembering why they fell in love with each other in the first place. Sessions involve a lot of laughing, some crying, the giving of gifts, recollecting old stories plus creating some new ones as well.

As you have probably already realised a Beloved couples photography session is unlike any other portrait experience you may have ever encountered. It works best with couples but can be done with families and even singles. The techniques are designed to prevent you from worrying or being overly conscious of there being a camera in front of you. They help you and your partner get into a clear state which then allows me, the photographer, the opportunity to capture the profound moment of connection that this clear state brings.

Why is it important to enter this clear state? Well for many of us it is hard to show our true emotions when there is a camera pointed at us. Add to this the presence of a stranger: me! (although by this stage we have had many pre-session consultations and general discussions, so you should know me well). Therefore the first steps are always about building trust between myself and the couples and showing understanding of their situation and sometimes their nervousness. By following this process it is easier for everyone to let go and break down any pre-existing walls that naturally exist when people meet for the first time.

From there I invite you to partake in some form of interaction by using questions, music, games and imagination. In fact the beauty of this technique is that there really is no limit on what can be used here. The level or intensity of these invites increases as the session progresses or to whatever level you feel comfortable with. Sounds interesting? Well it is and I guarantee, you will go home and put some of these invites into play for yourselves.

Putting photography aside for one moment, if you like the idea of experiencing heart warming moments with genuine interactions with your partner or family, then you should take the time to spend a day/weekend and reconnect with your loved ones. Tell stories about your past, make new plans for the future, laugh and engage with each other like you once did. You still remember those days don’t you?

A Beloved couples photography session is a great reason to allow you to spend time re-discovering each other while capturing images that will move you forever. Call the studio on 9570 6191 and book your Beloved couples photography session today. Or send us an email to if you need further information.
