Ever since we made the decision to start to photograph dogs a few months ago I have been meeting some wonderful people in the industry. As a qualified dog trainer and canine behaviourist I already knew many amazing people who have dedicated their lives to our canine friends and have helped their owners build strong rewarding relationships with them. Being relatively new to the Bentleigh area, photographing dogs has given me the perfect opportunity to meet other local businesses in the pet industry.
Cheeky Paws Dog Grooming
One such business is Cheeky Paws Dog Grooming. Cheeky Paws is a dog grooming, pet supply and accessory shop. They are located in Oakleigh South and are very close to our studios. A few weeks ago I photographed the owner Lorraine, her partner and their gorgeous pooch, Prinze. It was a fun session with lots of laughter. Lorraine is a character and is always laughing and excitable.
Afterwards I thought it would be a good idea to document photographically a day in the life at Cheeky Paws Dog Grooming. So through a haze of flying dog hair and splashing water droplets I managed to capture the images below.
Cheeky Paws are fully equipped dog groomers and even have a new DIY dog washing facility. The great thing about the DIY dog wash is that it is relatively inexpensive compared to the washes you find at the back of those roadside car wash places, it is inside and because you are at their premises, if you ever run into any problems there are always staff around to help you out. Another bonus is that no appointments are necessary.
Keeping your dog well groomed is very important in terms of their health and well being. Not only that but if they are indoors regularly a dog that is groomed often will shed less hair and save you from shedding your hair (aka pulling your hair out) when it comes to cleaning the house and vacuuming. Depending on the type of breed you should be brushing your dog to get rid of loose hair at the minimum of once per week. Some breeds of dogs shed hair excessively at certain times of the year. At this point their coats can become unmanageable and that’s where professional dog grooming can help.
Lorraine is willing to come back as a guest writer and provide some general tips on dog grooming. If you have any specific questions that you might want her to answer please leave them in the comments section below.
Enjoy
