The Rarely Spoken About Benefit of Family Photography
Seriously, This Is Priceless!
Family Photography, is it really that important??
Do any of these scenarios apply to you?
- you feel like the kids are growing up so fast that it was just like yesterday when you were still changing their nappies
- you and your partner are so busy all the time that you never have any clear moments to enjoy being together as a family. Even the weekends are so full with kids activities that it is rush, rush, rush…
- when you finally have a chance to sit down as a family, say over dinner, everyone seems so distracted with their electronic devices and other priorities.
Well that was a rhetorical question. Of course we have all felt like this at one time or another.
Life moves by so fast that sometimes we struggle to enjoy quality time with what we value the most: family. That is why the goal and mission for our family photography sessions is to:
…help families rediscover the art of connecting through beautiful and meaningful family portraits.
You may be thinking to yourself…Warren, all that is a bit ‘airy fairy’. But before you hit the BACK button on your browser could you do this one simple exercise for me??
In a moment I want you to close your eyes and think of a very personal family photograph of yours that you absolutely love. It could be of your kids, your partner, your parents when they were younger or even one from your wedding day.
Picture it in your head. Think about why you love it so much.
After you have done this, open your eyes.
How do you feel? Did thinking about it cause you to stir a little and bring out a smile? Even though your photograph might be visually appealing, I can guarantee that is not why you love it.
That family photograph is powerful. It has the power to unlock a whole host of feelings and emotions in you, fond memories, associations with another time and place and connections you had back then.
That is the power of family photography and photography in general!
My goal is to capture images of your family that are so powerful that when you and other family members look back at them many years from now, memories of how wonderful your life was back then will come flooding back. You will remember long forgotten things like the way your kids smiled, their gestures, their mannerisms and everything else about them related to these.
This is what I consider priceless.
Don’t believe me? Then close your eyes and think about that photograph again.
That’s enough talking from me but if you would like to see a personal photograph of mine that moved me to tears, you can do that here.
